Arsenal still optimistic of landing James Maddison
Arsenal are optimistic of their chances of landing Leicester City midfielder James Maddison this summer.
The England international has emerged as their top target in recent weeks, but he won't come on the cheap.
Maddison suffered a couple of injuries last term, but still registered 11 goals and 10 assists from 42 games.
According to football.london, the Foxes are reluctant to sell their prized asset unless they receive a £60m bid.
The Gunners are unlikely to afford the outlay after the £50m deal agreed for Brighton & Hove Albion's Ben White.
They plan to propose a part-exchange deal with one of Ainsley Maitland-Niles or Reiss Nelson joining the Foxes.
Both players are valued at around £20m. Maitland-Niles is reportedly a transfer target for Brendan Rodgers' side.
Aside from Maddison, the Gunners have also been linked with Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho in recent days.
Coutinho has recovered after a knee surgery. He could be available for just £25m as Barca look to reduce their surplus wage bill.
