Arsenal keen on landing Premier League midfielder?
Arsenal reportedly have their sights on landing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz during the ongoing transfer window.
The Gunners could be without Thomas Partey amd Mohamed Elneny for most of January amid their African Cup of Nations commitments.
This could force them to enter the transfer market, considering Granit Xhaka and Albert Sambi Lokonga are the only other central midfielders.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles has occasionally played for the Gunners in the role, but he has been tipped to join AS Roma on loan with an option to buy.
According to ESPN, Luiz is one of the prime targets for manager Mikel Arteta with a new defensive midfielder being the top priority this month.
Arteta has good knowledge on Luiz, having previously watched his development when he was the assistant manager at Manchester City.
He is keen on a reunion at the north London club, but it is unclear whether Villa will enter the prospect of losing him midway through the season.
The Gunners also hold an interest in Luiz's teammate Ollie Watkins.
