Mikel Arteta praises Gabriel Magalhaes' character
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised the character of Gabriel Magalhaes following the club's 2-1 Premier League win over Fulham.
The Gunners continued their perfect start to the campaign with a comeback win over the Cottagers, but they needed to work hard for the result.
Gabriel's failure to clear his lines saw Aleksandar Mitrovic open the scoring in the 56th minute, but Martin Odegaard equalised eight minutes later.
The Gunners eventually bagged the winner through Gabriel in the 86th minute. The Brazilian was a relieved man after making up for his mistake.
Speaking after the game, Arteta hailed the character of the centre-back after he made amends for his blunder with a late match-winning goal.
He said: "It shows his character & how far he’s come. He’s changed his mentality & the way he looks at himself and I’m really pleased because that’s when you have to show it - in difficult moments."
Arsenal remain top of the Premier League after a fourth straight win. They host Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
