Mikel Arteta delighted for Arsenal star after Brentford display
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was delighted for midfielder Granit Xhaka following the club's 3-0 Premier League win at Brentford.
The 29-year-old was handed the captain's armband in the injury absence of Martin Odegaard, and he led by example with an exemplary performance.
Xhaka was superb at the heart of the midfield alongside Thomas Partey, and the duo completely dominated the proceedings against the Bees.
Aside from his ball control, Xhaka also chipped in with his third assist of the campaign with a superb cross, leading to Gabriel Jesus' goal.
Following the game, the Gunners fans were spotted singing his name, and Arteta said that Xhaka deserves every bit of praise coming his way.
He told Arsenal.com: "I think he feels now that love and respect both ways.
"You see our supporters, the way they were singing to him as well, emotionally that makes him try to give even more.
"I’m really pleased for him because in my opinion he really deserves it."
Xhaka has bagged one goal and three assists in the Premier League this term. He has already bettered his tally from the previous season.
