Arsenal boss Arteta looking for more cover in midfield
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hinted that the club's business in the January transfer window may not yet be over, as he told reporters that the Gunners are still looking to sign a midfielder. With a bid for Weston McKennie falling through, Arsenal will look to other alternatives as Mohamed Elneny misses games through injury.
The arrivals of Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior have bolstered Arteta's squad, but leave a lack of depth in midfield as cover for Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. Arteta has confirmed that reinforcements may be signed, if the right options are available.
The Premier League leaders have a run of huge games coming up. Three games against Man City are on the horizon, and Arteta will need to rotate his squad wherever possible.
In an interview, Arteta said of the club's transfer business: "Well, we need some more cover in midfield ideally if we can.
"But obviously, in this market, it’s very complicated to do that. But as I always say the most important thing is that we get the performances and the time on the pitch that we need with the players we have available today that are already really good.
"If there’s anything else available that can make us better we’ll look at it."
