How Arsenal could lineup versus Spurs (3-4-2-1)

30 April 2017 - 06:28

Arsenal face off against Tottenham Hotspur in an eagerly anticipated north London derby which could define their Champions League fate this season.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Gunners have been in a patchy form in the Premier League of late, but have managed to win their last two outings since the switch to the 3-4-2-1 formation.

Arsene Wenger's side are currently five points behind fourth-placed Manchester City with a game in hand, and a win over their arch rivals could strengthen their chances of attaining a Champions League qualification spot.

    Lineup:

Petr Cech is a certainty in the starting lineup as he has been over the course of the season. The 34-year-old impressed with a sublime save versus Leicester in midweek.

The defence may see Nacho Monreal drift to the left wing-back role with Rob Holding likely to take up his position alongside Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel as part of a back three. Hector Bellerin will retain his spot at right wing-back.

Francis Coquelin was awful in the previous outing against the Foxes, and he could be replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who will partner the recent impressive Granit Xhaka in central midfield.

Moving forward, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will take up their regular positions in the attack with Danny Welbeck likely to be preferred ahead of Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud for the derby.
