How Chelsea could lineup vs Southampton

Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-3-3) vs Southampton, Giroud and Hazard start

06 October 2018 - 19:16

Chelsea will seek to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign when they make the trip to the South Coast to face Southampton.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The Blues had a rather frustrating Europa League game against Vidi in midweek where they only scrapped through by a single goal and Maurizio Sarri will be expecting an improved showing from his side at St Mary's.

    Formation: 4-3-3

    Predicted Lineup:

Kepa Arrizabalaga has been ever-present between the sticks since the Premier League season and he should keep his position after a top performance against Vidi, where he made a couple of key saves.

In defence, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso should slot in to the right and left back spots after the rest in midweek and likewise, David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger are certainly assured of their central defensive positions.

Onto the midfield, N'Golo Kante and Jorginho have been constants since the season started and the duo are expected to feature once more. Alongside them, Ross Barkley could get the nod after Mateo Kovacic's ineffective showing in midweek.

In the attack, Eden Hazard is certain to start in his preferred left-wing position and he could be accompanied on the other flank by Willian, who contributed the key assist for Alvaro Morata's goal versus Vidi.

Upfront, Olivier Giroud will very much get the nod over Morata, who was disappointing on Thursday night despite bagging himself a goal. Giroud bagged four goals from just three meetings versus Southampton last term.
