Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-2-3-1) to face Norwich City, Mount and Pulisic start

22 August 2019 - 12:41

Chelsea will be aiming for their first win of the campaign under new manager Frank Lampard when they face Norwich City on the road on Saturday.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Burnley clash
  • Man Utd attacker suspended for Brentford game

  • The Blues have accumulated just one point from the opening two league games against Manchester United and Leicester City respectively, while their European Super Cup encounter against Liverpool ended in a defeat through a penalty shoot-out.

    Formation:

    Predicted Lineup:

Blues boss Frank Lampard has no reason to make any changes in the goalkeeping or defensive department for the game. Kepa Arrizabalaga should feature in goal with Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Emerson making up the four-man defence.

Azpilicueta has been a major letdown with goalscoring errors in each of the three games this season, but he should still feature as the captain with no experienced replacement behind him. Antonio Rudiger meanwhile may have to settle for a bench role after his return from a long-term knee problem.

In the centre of the park, Jorginho and N'Golo Kante should continue to get the nod meaning that Mateo Kovacic will start on the bench. Among the duo, Kante will surely be offered the license to romp forward to create potential goalscoring contributions for the attackers.

In the attack midfield, Pedro, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic are the likely combination to start. Pedro and Pulisic should feature on the flanks with Mason Mount in the number 10 role after he scored his maiden goal against Leicester City in a 1-1 draw.

Both Ross Barkley and Willian have not done enough to warrant starting roles and the latter came for criticism for showing little effort on the field against Leicester City last weekend. Upfront, it could be a straight swap with Tammy Abraham starting ahead of Olivier Giroud this time around.
