John Terry earns draw for Chelsea at Tottenham

Chelsea centre back John Terry was on hand to score an equaliser and ensure the points were shared in today's 1-1 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

In a frenetic end to end game between two of the Premier League's major title contenders, it was Spurs who took the lead. Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has often been ignored by manager Andre Villas-Boas this season and confined to the bench, scored the opening goal after taking on a brilliant pass from striker Roberto Soldado and tucking the ball in the corner past Petr Cech.

Spurs controlled most of the first half and Andre Villas-Boas would have been delighted to go in at the break with a 1-0 lead.

After half time, Jose Mourinho decided to call upon Juan Mata and shuffle his pack. Chelsea were much better and looked a completely different outfit with the Spanish midfielder pulling the strings in the middle of the park.

It would be a masterstroke bringing in Mata, as the little Spaniard knocked over a free kick into the box and defender John Terry nodded the ball past Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will probably be the happier man at the end of this game, and Mourinho and Andre Villas-Boas exchanged a quick handshake at the end of the game that suggests there will be no hard feelings between the Portuguese duo.
