Chelsea agree personal terms with three Serie A stars

The Blues are lining up a sensational Serie A raid

Chelsea have agreed personal terms with three players from Serie A, according to reports in Italy.

Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri is reporting that Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij and Fiorentina full-back Marcos Alonso, but they must agree fees with the players’ clubs before any potential transfers can happen.

It has been reported today that the Blues have had a €27 million bid accepted by Fiorentina for former Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland left-back Alonso, as new manager Antonio Conte desperately tries to bolster his defensive options ahead of the transfer window closing tomorrow.

It had also been rumoured that Chelsea offered Inter a swap deal involving Cesc Fabregas for 23-year-old Croatia international Brozovic, but the Serie A club have reportedly turned that offer down.

Conte has been chasing a new centre-back all summer, and has already had bids rejected for Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli and AC Milan’s 21-year-old star Alessio Romagnoli. And it now appears that he has turned his attention top Lazio’s Dutch international de Vrij.

De Vrij signed for the Biancoceleste following a string of impressive displays at the 2014 World Cup. The £7 million signing overcame a difficult start to life in Rome to become a key player for Lazio. But last season, de Vrij was ruled out for most of the campaign with a knee ligament injury, which he now seems to have recovered from.
