Arsenal plan to beat Manchester United to Jerome Boateng signing
Arsenal are reportedly seeking to beat Manchester United in the race to sign Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich this month.
The Germany international has been a consistent performer for Bayern over the past seven seasons but his future has been placed into doubt of late with the club willing to sell him at the right price.
According to Kicker, the Gunners have joined the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and United in the pursuit of the World Cup winner, who is presently valued at around £45m.
Arsenal have already signed a centre-back in the form of Sokratis Papastathopoulos this summer but they are supposedly eyeing another late addition with Calum Chambers set to join Fulham on loan.
Aside from Boateng, Besiktas' Domagoj Vida has also linked with a possible move to the Emirates but any deal may depend on how quickly the club manage to offload the fringe players at the club.
Lucas Perez, David Ospina, Danny Welbeck, Carl Jenkinson and Joel Campbell have all been tipped to head through the exit door with manager Unai Emery also tasked with the job of reducing the club's wage bill.
