Capello blasts Ronaldo and Messi over FIFA award snub

Former England coach Fabio Capello has blasted Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi after the pair failed to attend The Best Fifa Football Awards on Monday.

The former Real Madrid boss described them as disrespectful for failing to attend the ceremony where Luka Modric was given The Best Fifa men’s Player award. Ronaldo won the last two awards.

‘Ronaldo and Messi’s absence is disrespectful to their fellow players, to Fifa and to the football world,’ Capello told Television Española (via the Metro).

Capello added that they didn't attend because they probably have won too much and dislike losing a lot. He added a piece of advice, saying that one has to know how to win and lose in life.

Mohamed Salah won the Puskas Award for his goal against Everton in the Premier League last December.

Thibaut Courtois won the best goalkeeper award after helping Belgium finish third at the World Cup in Russia.

After leading France to their second World Cup triumph in Russia, Didier Deschamps was given the best coach award.
