Predicted Manchester United XI vs Derby County

Manchester United will be aiming to return to winning ways when they entertain Derby County in the third round of the League Cup on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils have gone back-to-back home games without a victory since the season kickstarted but they have the chance to put things right with the visit of Frank Lampard's side.

Formation: 4-3-3

Lineup:

David de Gea has been ever-present for United between the sticks since the season started but he may be rested for the Cup tie with Sergio Romero making his maiden appearance of the campaign.

In defence, Diogo Dalot is certain to start in the right-back spot as confirmed by Jose Mourinho and Ashley Young could be offered a run on the opposite end.

Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof have been Mourinho's preferred picks at the heart of the backline and based on the recent showing of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones, the manager may stick with the same combination.

Onto the midfield, Paul Pogba could feature from the bench after his mixed performance versus Wolves and this may witness a rare start for Ander Herrera, who has returned from an ankle problem.

Alongside Herrera, Andreas Pereira and Nemanja Matic may feature with the latter returning after a one-match suspension he served for his sending off at Watford.

Further forward, Alexis Sanchez may get another run on the left side of the attack and we are fancying Juan Mata to slot into the opposite flank for only his third start of the campaign.

Upfront, Anthony Martial may lead the line against the Rams with Romelu Lukaku likely to start from the bench after being ever-present in the opening six weeks of the season.
