37-year-old Spaniard keen on taking charge of Arsenal
Manchester City assistant Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on taking up the head coach role at Arsenal, should the north London side come forward with a proposal.
The 37-year-old was touted as one of the managerial targets after the departure of Arsene Wenger in 2018 but the Gunners chose to recruit Unai Emery instead.
That move certainly did not work out with the Spaniard sacked after just 18 months at the helm and the Gunners are back on the hunt for a permanent manager.
According to The Mail, Arteta is content playing as the deputy to manager Pep Guardiola at the moment but he would find it hard to turn down the opportunity to become the next Gunners boss.
The Gunners have picked up only four points from the past seven league games and they have already dropped 10 points adrift of Chelsea in the race for the final Champions League place.
They are scheduled to face West Ham United on the road in Monday night's Premier League clash and caretaker boss Freddie Ljungberg will be hoping to guide the team to a much-needed victory.
