Everton to make move for Nicolas Nkoulou
Cameroon international Nicolas Nkoulou is wanted by Everton to fill a defensive void at the Toffees. The centre-back, who has impressed since making a move to Serie A side Torino, is a top target for Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The sporadic performances of Everton's current central defence has seen Ancelotti scour the transfer market to find a new defender, and he appears to have set his sights on 29-year-old defender Nkoulou. The Goodison Park outfit are confident that they can beat West Ham and Bournemouth to the signature of the Cameroonian, who previously had spells with Monaco, Marseille and Lyon. Everton are ready to match Torino's reported 15 million euro transfer valuation for the player.
Nkoulou made a trasnfer to Italy in the 2017-18 season and has gone on to appear on a regular basis for Torino's team, after a disappointing year prior to that with Lyon. However, at Marseille and at Monaco, Nkoulou was a firm fan favourite.
Nkoulou is a particularly well rounded defender, with an excellent pass and tough tackling style. He has previously operated in a defensive midfield role, and it is understood that Carlo Ancelotti wants to partner the player alongside Colombia international Yerry Mina at the heart of his defence. There are rumours that Michael Keane could be sold in the summer to make room for Nkoulou's arrival.
