Arsenal defender close to joining Newcastle United
Arsenal defender Rob Holding is reportedly close to making the loan move to Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old starred in the FA Cup final triumph against Chelsea last month and he continued the good form in the Community Shield win over Liverpool.
Despite this, his playing time will be limited with the arrival of Gabriel and the loan return of William Saliba, and the Gunners are happy to loan him out.
According to TalkSPORT, the centre-back is close to making the temporary switch to the Magpies, where he will be assured regular game time.
Holding has started to find his feet after a long-term knee injury, but he has not been able to show the consistency as he has been in and out of the lineup.
Steve Bruce had initially preferred to sign Shane Duffy on loan from Brighton, but the 28-year-old turned them down for a temporary move to Celtic.
Holding has been identified as the alternative target and the Magpies are set to land his services this week without the option for a permanent purchase.
