Rennes set transfer demand for Chelsea target Edouard Mendy

Rennes won't sell Mendy on the cheap

French side Rennes have indicated that they won't accept anything less than £30m for goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen on signing a new shot-stopper this summer after witnessing an average season for Kepa Arrizabalaga between the sticks.

Kepa has no plans of leaving the club during the ongoing transfer window, but Lampard still wants the hierarchy to pursue another goalkeeper, who can provide strong competition to the Spaniard.

The Blues had recently failed with an opening bid worth £15m for the Senegal international and it is now revealed by The Telegraph that Rennes want at least twice the figure upfront.

The Ligue 1 side are under no pressure to sell the 28-year-old and would ideally want £40m including add-ons for their leading star, who helped them qualify for the Champions League last term.

Chelsea have been pretty active during the current transfer window and they have already signed Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva.
