Arsenal turn focus to signing midfield duo
Arsenal have switched their attention to signing Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar following the contract extension for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang recently ended the speculation regarding his future by putting pen-to-paper on a fresh three-year contract with the club.
According to The Athletic, the club will now shift their focus towards signing Partey and Aouar from Atletico Madrid and Lyon respectively.
Partey has been tipped to join the Gunners, but so far, they have been unable to meet the £45m buy-out clause on his Atletico contract.
Meanwhile, Lyon are open to selling Aouar at the right price this summer. Les Gones are understood to demand around £50m.
The Gunners need to recoup funds from player sales to sign the duo and they remain optimistic of doing so before the transfer deadline next month.
They have already earned around £20m from the sale of Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa.
The likes of Lucas Torreira, Sead Kolasinac and Matteo Guendouzi could also head through the exit door.
