Liverpool set to sign two centre-backs before deadline
Liverpool are set to sign Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak before the 11pm transfer deadline tonight.
Davies was widely fancied to join Celtic from Preston North End before the Reds hijacked the move.
The 25-year-old has already undergone his medical. Liverpool will pay an initial £500,000 for the player with structured add-ons.
Elsewhere, they have reached an agreement to land Kabak from Schalke 04. He will join for an initial loan fee of £1m.
The Reds will have a buy-clause worth £18m included in the contract, but it is unclear whether there is an obligation for a purchase.
Jurgen Klopp's side have experienced an injury crisis this term and they are without three of their regular centre-backs.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez may be out for the season with knee injuries while Joel Matip has suffered an ankle ligament damage.
Hence, they have been forced to spend. Davies and Kabak should provide some much-needed cover and experience at the back.
