Arsenal midfielder on his way to Serie A?

Lucas Torreira news

Torreira set for Lazio move?

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira could make a return to the Serie A with interest from Lazio.

The Uruguayan spent the previous campaign with Atletico Madrid, but he barely played for them over the season.

With less than two years left on his contract, the Gunners prefer to offload him permanently, and Lazio are apparently keen.

The Serie A outfit are not in a position to pay up front, and they could propose a loan with an obligation to buy next summer.

Torreira was purchased by the Gunners from Sampdoria for €25m. They are set for a loss with Lazio unlikely to pay over €15m.

The Gunners don't plan to bring in a replacement for Torreira. Mikel Arteta is satisfied with the current options at his disposal.

He has Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Mohamed Elneny as his choices for the central midfield roles.

Partey is currently sidelined with an ankle injury sustained in pre-season, but he is expected to return to training by end of August.
