Everton to swoop for versatile Arsenal defender?
Arsenal defender Calum Chambers has emerged as a potential target for Everton ahead of the January transfer window.
Chambers has seen limited playing time with the Gunners this term. He has not featured in the Premier League since August.
His current contract expires at the end of the campaign, and The Sun claims that the Gunners are likely to sell him in January.
The Toffees have emerged as potential contenders to sign Chambers, who can play at right-back, centre-back or in midfield.
They were keen on landing Ainsley Maitland-Niles last summer on loan to provide competition for Seamus Coleman at right-back.
Mikel Arteta blocked the move. He has no plans of letting him go in January. On the other hand, Chambers could be available for £5m.
Chambers is presently the third-choice right-back for the Gunners with Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares preferred ahead of him.
In central defence, Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes are undisputed starters with Rob Holding and Pablo Mari waiting in reserve.
Hence, there are no surprises that he could be leaving soon. A move to the Toffees could be ideal to restart his career once again.
