Chelsea defender determined to join Barcelona?

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has his sights on joining Barcelona this summer, Spanish publication Sport claims.

The Spaniard has been with the Blues for nearly a decade, but he is now eyeing a fresh challenge away from west London.

According to Sport, Azpilicueta is determined to move on from the Blues when his contract expires at the end of June.

The club have the option to extend his stay for 12 months after the takeover, but the defender is eyeing a return home.

Barcelona are clear favourites to sign him at the moment, having already made contact with his representatives this year.

They are willing to hand him a three-year deal to join them this summer, and are also prepared to assure him regular minutes.

This does not appear the case with the Blues. Reece James is currently the undisputed choice for the right wing-back role.

Azpilicueta faces heavy competition from Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr in central defence.
