Barcelona confident of signing Chelsea captain

Barcelona are confident of signing Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta despite the tensions brewing between the clubs, Spanish outlet Relevo claim.

The Blaugrana have been ultra busy during the transfer window with the signings of Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.

They are also on the verge of landing Jules Kounde from Sevilla. This has not gone well with Chelsea, considering Raphinha and Kounde were their top transfer targets.

Thomas Tuchel recently said that he could block Azpilicueta's departure, but Barcelona remain confident that they can pursue the Spain international from the Blues.

The Catalan giants have already agreed personal terms with the experienced defender, and Azpilicueta is waiting for the green light from Chelsea to move to Camp Nou.

A cut-price deal has been discussed over recent weeks, and it remains to be seen whether the Blaugrana can convince the Blues on the back of signing their main targets.

Aside from Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso has also been linked with Barcelona.
