Arsenal make the trip to Rennes for the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 on Thursday.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Spurs, Gilchrist starts
  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • The Gunners have remained unbeaten for the past four matches in all competitions and they have a good chance of progressing to the quarter-final with a strong showing at Roazhon Park.

    Formation: 4-2-3-1

    Predicted Lineup:

Petr Cech has been the undisputed choice in goal for the Cup competitions this term and the veteran is expected to feature from the off against Rennes.

In the defence, the likes of Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal could be rested for the away trip with Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac coming into the mix.

In this case, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis should slot at the heart of the defence with Maitland-Niles and Kolasinac occupying the right and left-back positions respectively.

In the midfield, Granit Xhaka is a certainty to feature and he could be partnered by Lucas Torreira, who won't participate in the next three league games after his straight-red card in the north London derby.

In the attack, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi are likely candidates to slot into the right and left wing positions respectively, though they could be a change in the number 10 role with Mesut Ozil replacing Aaron Ramsey.

Upfront, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to start with Alexandre Lacazette due to serve the second game of his three-match European ban at Rennes.
