Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-3-3) vs Wolves, Jorginho and Giroud start

15 December 2020 - 16:52

Chelsea are scheduled to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on the road in this evening's Premier League clash.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Gabriel Magalhaes to sign new Arsenal deal

  • The Blues recently suffered a 1-0 loss to Everton and that was their first defeat in the top-flight after 10 games.

They are currently fifth on the table with 22 points, three points of the leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

    Formation: 4-3-3

    Predicted Lineup:

Edouard Mendy has cemented himself as the first-choice goalkeeper. He was at fault for the goal conceded against the Toffees and will be eager to redeem himself.

In the backline, there may not be any changes. Reece James and Ben Chilwell should continue in the right and left-back positions while Kurt Zouma should once again partner Thiago Silva in the central defence.

N'Golo Kante has played every minute of the Blues' Premier League campaign and he is expected to retain holding midfield role. Ahead of him, there may be a change with Jorginho coming in for Mateo Kovacic. The duo should be accompanied by Mason Mount.

Further forward, no changes are likely. Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi are still nursing hamstring injuries. Christian Pulisic is available, but he may be restricted to a cameo role, having just returned from a fresh muscular concern.

Hence, we are fancying Kai Havertz and Timo Werner to keep their places in the left and right wing respectively while Olivier Giroud should continue to lead the line ahead of Tammy Abraham, having bagged five goals from his previous three starts.

Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-3-3): Edouard Mendy; Reece James, Kurt Zouma, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell; N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mason Mount; Kai Havertz, Olivier Giroud, Timo Werner
