Predicted Arsenal lineup (4-2-3-1) to face Southampton, Pepe and Ceballos start

16 December 2020 - 17:30

Arsenal will be aiming to return to winning ways when they welcome Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Gunners are currently in a poor run of form and they are languishing in the 15th spot with just 13 points on the board.

They have picked up just one point from the previous five matches and will be aiming to end the wretched winless run against the Saints.

    Formation: 4-2-3-1

    Predicted Lineup:

Bernd Leno has been ever-present in goal this season and he is expected to start against the south Coast outfit.

In the defence, a solitary change will be enforced with Hector Bellerin suspended after picking up five yellow cards.

In his place, Ainsley Maitland-Niles is a likely candidate to start in the right-back position ahead of Cedric Soares.

Elsewhere, Granit Xhaka is suspended for three domestic games after his sending off for violent conduct last weekend.

That should see Dani Ceballos return to the starting lineup. The Spaniard is expected to partner Mohamed Elneny in the midfield.

In the attack, we are anticipating one change. Willian may drop to the bench to be replaced by Nicolas Pepe.

The Ivorian is back in the mix after serving a three-match domestic ban.

Predicted Arsenal lineup: Bernd Leno; Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Rob Holding, Gabriel Magalhaes, Kieran Tierney; Mohamed Elneny, Dani Ceballos; Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Bukayo Saka; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
