Predicted Chelsea lineup (3-4-2-1) vs Sheffield United, Kante and James start

07 February 2021 - 18:15

Chelsea will be aiming to extend their two-match winning streak when they face Sheffield United away from home tonight.

  • Serie A striker wants to join Arsenal or Chelsea
  • Mikel Arteta confirms double fitness blow for Man Utd game

  • The Blues are currently within four points adrift of the Champions League places and they have the chance of closing down the gap.

    Formation: 3-4-2-1

    Predicted Lineup:

Edouard Mendy has been almost ever-present for the Blues in the top-flight since his arrival from Rennes in the summer. He is expected to feature ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

In the backline, a solitary change is expected with Thiago Silva ruled out of the game with a thigh issue. Andreas Christensen replaced him in the back three midway through the Spurs game and he looks set to start tonight.

N'Golo Kante has overcome his hamstring issue and he made a cameo appearance in midweek. He should return to the mix and partner Jorginho, who has been a constant in the XI since Thomas Tuchel's arrival as the new boss.

Further forward, Tuchel may make a solitary change up front. Both Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham have failed to score in recent games leading the line and Olivier Giroud could now get the nod.

Predicted Chelsea lineup: Edouard Mendy; Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger; Reece James, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso; Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount; Olivier Giroud.
