Man Utd back to winning ways
Manchester United returned back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park. Javier Hernandez scored a first half winner to ensure the 3 points returned to Manchester.
As expected prior to the game, Man Utd were not going to easily win the points here though; and the Toffees made it difficult for Sir Alex Ferguson's men.
The defensive mettle of Man Utd kept them in this game with defender Nemanja Vidic - this week linked with a move to Anzhi - the standout performer.
United took control of the game from the off, and the opening 20 minutes they completely dominated possession.
That possession would eventually turn to a goal, as Javier Hernandez was there to score thanks to a great cross from Patrice Evra on the left hand side.
But Everton slowly found a way back into the game, as Jack Rodwell made David de Gea work with a strike from distance, and Louis Saha should have scored against his former club but good goalkeeping kept United in the game.
After the interval, Jack Rodwell again had a wonderful opportunity to score, but David De Gea proved to be on form today.
Tom Cleverley then had to be substituted after injuring his ankle on the turf, and was replaced by the Portuguese winger Nani.
With 20 minutes to go, Tim Howard had to be at his best to keep out Danny Welbeck, who forced a good save from a well controlled strike from distance.
There were six minutes of injury time for United to endure and to hang on the result, but the victory was ensured and the points went to Sir Alex Ferguson's team.
