Arsenal want to sign Antoine Griezmann
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking to clinch a record transfer for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman recently penned a five-year contract with the Spanish giants.
Griezmann was the star of the show at Euro 2016 as hosts France lost out to Portugal in the finals.
Italian transfer expert Emanuele Giulianelli says the Gunners have been contact with Atleti over a potential move for Griezmann in recent months.
It is added that Diego Simeone's side would not accept anything less than the player's release clause which currently stands at €100m.
Atleti are in discussions to re-sign Diego Costa from Chelsea, and his arrival could well open up the chance for the Gunners to land their attacking target.
The Gunners will be keeping tabs on Griezmann's situation in the coming days before considering a renewed attempt to sign Lyon ace Alexandre Lacazette.
Arsenal are currently short in the centre-forward position with Olivier Giroud yet to return for pre-season training whilst Danny Welbeck is sidelined for the year with an injury.
