Premier League giants Arsenal could accept the surprise sale of Hector Bellerin in the summer with former club Barcelona hot on the trail of his services.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising right-backs in the English top flight after having graduated through the Gunners' youth system.

Bellerin has made the right-back position his own over the past few seasons, and this earned him a new long-term deal on wages worth £100,000-a-week back in November.

But, in spite of this, Barca have maintained their interest in the La Masia student with the right-back position in need of sufficient strengthening ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

According to Transfermarketweb, the Gunners could part ways with Bellerin in the summer with Barca willing to match their valuation of around £42m.

It is added that Barca's pursuit of the full-back is dependent on the future of Lionel Messi, who is said to want the signing of Bellerin as part of his contractual demand.

Barcelona have lacked the presence of a tireless right-back since Dani Alves departed for Juventus last summer, and Bellerin has been earmarked as the perfect fit owing to a similar style of play as at Camp Nou.

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger appears to have earmarked a suitable replacement with a move for Atletico Madrid's Sime Vrsaljko planned this summer.
