Chelsea, Liverpool track Southampton full-back
Premier League duo Chelsea and Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Southampton full-back Ryan Bertrand ahead of a summer move for his signature.
The left-back has impressed in the Saints setup over the past year or so, and this recently earned him a recall to the England national side after a lengthy gap.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool and former club Chelsea are keeping tabs on Bertrand with the duo in need of reinforcements on the left side of the defence.
The Reds have solely been dependant on James Milner as the makeshift left-back this term, and Jurgen Klopp is said to want a specialist in the position ahead of next season.
On the other hand, Blues boss Antonio Conte is in a similar need with Marcos Alonso having handled the burden in the left wing-back role.
The Premier League leaders do have the option of playing Nathan Ake as Alonso's deputy, but there is a reasonable chance he could be sold to a domestic rival in the summer.
Bertrand, 27, has earned over 100 appearances for Southampton since arriving from Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2014 - initial on a season-long loan.
