Southampton attempt to sign Liverpool striker

Southampton are reportedly on acquiring the services of Danny Ings from Liverpool, though they are only willing to pay half of the marksman's price tag.
Ings, 25, has struggled to cement a regular role with the Reds over the past three seasons owing to injuries and the competition around him and he is now said to be eyeing a fresh challenge elsewhere.
According to The Sun, Saints boss Mark Hughes is keen on luring Ings to St Mary's this summer but the club are only willing to offer 50 per cent of the player's £20m asking price.
As such, negotiations are set to continue in the coming days but the Saints face the prospect of being beaten by Crystal Palace to the services of the former Burnley man.
Palace were hampered in the forward department last term with Christian Benteke found guilty of missing several clear-cut chances and there has been the speculation of him being replaced before the transfer deadline.
