Everton interested in signing Chelsea centre-back

Everton have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma before the transfer window concludes on Thursday.

The Toffees are presently with just two senior centre-backs in Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka following a pre-season injury to Mason Holgate.

As a result, Marco Silva is desperate to pursue a new recruit before the transfer deadline and according to The Mirror, Zouma has been highlighted as the prime target.

Nevertheless, the Blues are unlikely to part ways with Zouma on a permanent deal and the Toffees may only sign the France international on a season-long loan.

Zouma spent the previous campaign on loan with Stoke City where he was impressive and this earned him a spot in France's preliminary squad for the World Cup.

As things stand, the former Saint-Etienne graduate has no assurances of gametime at Stamford Bridge and he may take the option of another loan spell to secure regular first-team football.
