Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-2-3-1) to face Manchester United, James and Abraham start
Chelsea are scheduled to host Manchester United in tonight's Premier League clash. The Blues are winless for three top-flight games on the bounce but manager Frank Lampard will be hoping that they can end the run to enhance their Champions League prospects.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Lineup:
Lampard made the surprise choice to drop Kepa Arrizabalaga to the bench for the previous game against Leicester City. However, the Spaniard could make a comeback for tonight's game with the manager said to be impressed with his response in training.
The defence should remain the same from the previous outing at the King Power Stadium. Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta are expected to feature in the full-back spots with Antonio Rudiger partnering Andreas Christensen in the central defence.
Jorginho and N'Golo Kante have been the preferred midfield combination for Lampard of late and the same should be the case tonight. Mateo Kovacic could make up a three-man midfield for the Blues but more often, the club have struggled to create chances with the additional player in the centre of the park.
Further forward, Willian should return to the mix after being benched in place of Pedro last time around. The Brazilian should slot into the left wing with Callum Hudson-Odoi on the opposite flank while Mason Mount should slot into the number 10 slot.
Tammy Abraham remains doubtful with a minor recurrence of the ankle concern picked up at Arsenal. He should, however, start so long as he has passed the late fitness test.
