Chelsea set sights on Donnarumma

Chelsea are understood to have opened negotiations with AC Milan for the services of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The west London side have been ultra-active during the current transfer window with manager Frank Lampard aiming to strengthen different areas of the squad.

The club have already made five senior additions in Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva and the spending spree is set to continue.

A new goalkeeper remains one of Lampard's priorities ahead of next term and Football Insider reports that the club have started negotiations with the Rossoneri over Donnarumma.

Rennes' Edouard Mendy was initially identified as the prime target to replace the under-performing Kepa Arrizabalaga, but the Blues' £22m bid has fallen well short of the £45m asking price.

Hence, they have shifted the attention towards Donnarumma, who is valued at around £50m. The Blues are expected to propose a season-long loan deal for the Italian with the obligation to buy next summer.
