Newcastle United to land Arsenal defender?
Newcastle United are reportedly close to landing the services of Rob Holding on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal.
The centre-back played through the entire 90 minutes of the Community Shield over Liverpool, but he is still expected to leave the Gunners.
According to The Mirror, the north London side are willing to loan out Holding with the impending arrival of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille.
Both Leeds and Newcastle were linked with his services, but the latter are now said to be the favourites to sign him for the campaign.
Holding has been in-and-out of the Arsenal lineup over the years, but he should be assured regular game time under Steve Bruce.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is planning to make multiple changes to the squad and the majority of the funds could be generated from player sales.
The likes of Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira have been tipped to head for the exit door.
Mohamed Elneny, who played in the Community Shield game, could be handed a lifeline under Arteta.
