Lazar Markovic to Liverpool a done deal

14 July 2014 - 14:23

Lazar Markovic has arrived in Merseyside for his medical and is on the brink of becoming Liverpool's fourth signing this transfer season.

  • Predicted Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Crystal Palace, Evans starts
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • The Serbian international flew in to Liverpool on Sunday evening and we are 24-hours away before his £20 million move from Benfica gets official nod.

Markovic was a target for Rodgers long before Luis Suarez was pursued by Barcelona and the management acted quickly to trigger the release clause in his contract to sign him from Benfica.

Markovic, a highly talented left-sided winger, will follow Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can as new additions to Brendan Rodgers squad.

Belgium striker Divock Origi and Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno are close to joining Liverpool.

Liverpool are also considering moves for Swansea duo Wilfried Bony and Ben Davies, QPR striker Loic Remy and Croat defender Dejan Lovren.

England internationals Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge, Lallana and Lambert will join Liverpool's squad following their three-week break after the World Cup.
