How Arsenal could lineup vs Doncaster Rovers

Predicted Arsenal lineup (3-4-2-1) vs Doncaster Rovers, Sanchez and Wilshere start

19 September 2017 - 10:03

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is likely to experiment with his matchday lineup when the Gunners host Doncaster Rovers in the third round of the League Cup. The likes of Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott have barely featured since the start of the campaign, and they could be among the many changes made on Wednesday night.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Lineup (3-4-2-1):

David Ospina is a certainty to start in goal against Doncaster with Petr Cech having been allotted the Premier League duties. The central defence could retain familiar faces from the Koln clash with Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding likely to feature while Nacho Monreal could keep his place on the left side of the backline.

Reiss Nelson only made a cameo appearance in the 3-1 triumph over Koln last week, but he could be offered a starting role this time around at right wing-back. Ainsley Maitland-Niles looks a probable candidate to replace the impressive Sead Kolasinac in the opposite direction.

Alex Iwobi played 80 minutes of the London derby against Chelsea, and he could probably be rested to accommodate the central midfield partnership of Jack Wilshere and Mohamed Elneny.

Theo Walcott has looked far off from the player of last season, but he could get another chance alongside Alexis Sanchez in the supporting role. Olivier Giroud has made a solitary start in Europa League this term, and the Frenchman will surely get some much-needed game time against Doncaster.

Arsenal (3-4-2-1) Ospina; Holding, Mertesacker, Monreal; Nelson, Maitland-Niles; Wilshere, Elneny; Walcott, Sanchez, Giroud
