Predicted Arsenal lineup (4-2-3-1) to face CSKA Moscow, Ramsey and Lacazette start

12 April 2018 - 07:57

Arsenal will be aiming to seal their place in the last four of the Europa League when they take on CSKA Moscow at the VEB Arena tonight. The Gunners already have a 4-1 advantage from the first leg of their quarter-final tie, but they cannot take things for granted after the recent comebacks witnessed from other European outings.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Formation: 4-2-3-1

    Lineup:

Petr Cech is once again expected to start between the sticks with David Ospina still nursing a knee issue. The Czech will be eyeing only his second clean sheet since the start of 2018.

In defence, familiar faces in Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal are likely to slot into the right and left-back positions respectively with Laurent Koscielny accompanying Shkodran Mustafi at the heart of the backline.

Granit Xhaka has earned more appearances than any other Arsenal play this term, but the Swiss has been ruled out for the CSKA game with flu. Hence Mohamed Elneny is likely to take up one of the central midfield positions alongside Jack Wilshere, who needs a strong performance after being shambolic versus Southampton.

With Henrikh Mkhitaryan's injury absence, Danny Welbeck should feature on the left side of the attack with Mesut Ozil on the right whilst Aaron Ramsey could be rewarded for his recent form with an advanced attacking midfield role.

Alexandre Lacazette has notched three goals in as many games since his injury comeback, and the expectations will be on him to finish off the tie with an early goal. He is bound to start with Aubameyang ineligible.
