Predicted Arsenal lineup (4-2-3-1) vs Chelsea, Saka and Martinelli start

21 January 2020 - 18:41

Arsenal face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in tonight's Premier League encounter. The Gunners are currently 10 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the standings and they have a good chance of closing the gap to enhance their Champions League prospects.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Mikel Arteta confirms big injury boost for Spurs clash

  • Formation: 4-2-3-1

    Predicted Lineup:

Bernd Leno has been the first-choice goalkeeper for the league duties and he is expected to start between the sticks. He made the blunder contributing towards the Blues' 2-1 comeback win at the Emirates and he will surely want to make amends.

In the defence, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Bukayo Saka should keep their places in the full-back spots. There may be a single change at the heart of the defence with Sokratis Papastathopoulos replacing Shkodran Mustafi. The Greek will therefore partner David Luiz.

In the midfield, Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira have cemented their spots when fit and manager Mikel Arteta should go with the same combination. Matteo Guendouzi may get his opportunity off the bench but the focus could be on Daniel Ceballos, who has not featured since his injury comeback.

Further forward, no changes are expected. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains suspended for another two domestic games and hence Gabriel Martinelli will keep his place on the left wing. Nicolas Pepe should slot into the opposite flank with Mesut Ozil in the number 10 role while Alexandre Lacazette is set to lead the attack.

Predicted Arsenal lineup (4-2-3-1): ernd Leno, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, David Luiz, Bukayo Saka, Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira, Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil, Gabriel Martinelli, Alexandre Lacazette
