Predicted Liverpool XI vs Man City

Liverpool are at Anfield for Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first-leg against Manchester City. The Reds have returned to winning ways with successive victories in the Premier League, and they will now have an eye on extending their run against City, whom they beat earlier in the year.

Formation: 4-3-3

Lineup:

Loris Karius has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Simon Mignolet, and Jurgen Klopp will be expected to stick with the German for the midweek game.

At the back, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson are likely to retain their positions at right and left-back respectively, but the Reds have to deal with a severe blow at the heart of the backline.

Joel Matip has sustained a thigh injury which is expected to rule him out for the campaign, and this may witness Dejan Lovren partnering Virgil van Dijk in central defence.

Likewise, Adam Lallana and Emre Can are expected to miss the Champions League meeting with hamstring and back issues respectively, and Klopp now has limited options at hand.

In order to curb the City threat, Klopp may call upon the experience of James Milner alongside Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum in central midfield.

Upfront, the Reds have no injury issues and Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be expected to flank Roberto Firmino, who has been the undisputed choice to lead the attack.
