Arsenal can secure a third straight victory across all competitions when they entertain Nottingham Forest in the third round of the League Cup tonight.

  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • The north London side were initially scheduled to face Forest on Wednesday but they have accepted to prepone the fixture by 24 hours to help out the visitors, who have a Championship clash at Stoke City on Friday night.

    Formation: 4-2-3-1

    Predicted Lineup:

In goal, it should be a straight swap with Emiliano Martinez replacing Bernd Leno. The Argentine is clearly the Cup goalkeeper for the season and he will be hoping to continue the good impression after the standout display at Eintracht Frankfurt last week.

In the defence, the likes of David Luiz and Sokratis will definitely be rested while Ainsley Maitland-Niles is suspended for the game following his red card against Aston Villa. We are anticipating Calum Chambers and Sead Kolasinac to feature on the left and right side of the backline with Rob Holding making his first appearance of the season alongside Shkodran Mustafi at the heart of the defence.

In the centre of the park, Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi seem likely to be rested, given they are presently the undisputed choices when it comes to Premier League selection. In their places, Lucas Torreira and Joe Willock should get the nod after excelling with their cameo appearances in the tremendous comeback triumph over Villa.

Further forward, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka are expected to feature on the right and left side of the attack and the eyes will surely be on the latter, who bagged one goal and two assists during the past week against Frankfurt. Mesut Ozil is likely to provide the experience and quality in the lineup from the number 10 role while Gabriel Martinelli could get the nod ahead of club graduate Folarin Balogun to lead the line.
