Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Villarreal, Aubameyang and Lacazette start

29 April 2021 - 18:21

Arsenal make the trip to Villarreal for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie tonight.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Gunners will come up against Unai Emery for the first time since he was dismissed as their manager.

    Formation: 4-2-3-1

    Predicted Line-up:

Bernd Leno made a howler which gifted Everton with a Premier League victory last week. The German is still expected to start in goal, and will be keen to redeem himself.

In the backline, no changes are likely. Kieran Tierney is available after recovering from a knee injury, but he may not be rushed back to action. Granit Xhaka should continue at left-back.

With Xhaka in the defence, Dani Ceballos and Thomas Partey are very much automatic choices in midfield. Mohamed Elneny is the other option available, but he may feature off the bench.

Further forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are expected to return to the starting XI after recovering from malaria and a hamstring injury respectively.

Aubameyang is likely to replace Nicolas Pepe on the left side of the attack. Lacazette should lead the line. He is the club's top scorer this term with 17 goals in all competitions.

Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1): Bernd Leno; Calum Chambers, Rob Holding, Pablo Mari, Granit Xhaka; Dani Ceballos, Thomas Partey; Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang; Alexandre Lacazette
