Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-2-1) vs Crystal Palace, Chalobah and Jorginho start

14 August 2021 - 13:29

Chelsea host Crystal Palace in their Premier League season opener today.

  • Chelsea agree personal terms with Messinho
  • Arsenal very impressed by 41-goal striker ahead of possible move

  • The Blues have momentum on their side after their midweek UEFA Super Cup triumph over Villarreal on penalties.

They should be favourites for the London derby. The Blues have beaten the Eagles in the previous seven meetings.

    Formation: 3-4-2-1

    Predicted Line-up:

Kepa Arrizabalaga hit the headlines in midweek with his penalty shoot-out heroics. However, Edouard Mendy played the entirety of regulation time, and he is expected to start in goal.

Antonio Rudiger is expected to start in the back three, and we fancy Trevoh Chalobah to keep his place after an excellent debut performance in midweek. Andreas Christensen may come in for Kurt Zouma.

In the wing-back positions, there could be a solitary change. Callum Hudson-Odoi could make way for Cesar Azpilicueta in the right wing-back spot. Marcos Alonso should feature on the other end as Ben Chilwell has had no pre-season games.

With N'Golo Kante sidelined with a muscle injury, Jorginho look set to partner Mateo Kovacic in the centre of the park. Kante was substituted at the hour mark of the Villarreal clash with the setback.

There will be an enforced change in the attack with Hakim Ziyech sidelined with a shoulder injury. Mason Mount is expected to partner Kai Havertz. Timo Werner will lead the line with Romelu Lukaku still unavailable to make his second debut.

Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-2-1): Edouard Mendy; Trevoh Chalobah, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger; Cesar Azpilicueta, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Marcos Alonso; Kai Havertz, Mason Mount;Timo Werner.
