Predicted Liverpool line-up vs Real Madrid, Thiago and Fabinho fit

28 May 2022 - 16:43

Liverpool face off against Real Madrid in tonight's much-anticipated Champions League final in Paris.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Reds will be aiming to avenge the 2018 final defeat, and have been handed a big boost ahead of the final.

Both Fabinho and Thiago have returned to training after minor injuries and are expected to make the starting XI.

    Formation: 4-3-3

    Predicted Line-up:

Alisson Becker has been an undisputed goalkeeper in the Champions League games, and he can anticipate a busy game tonight with Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema in fine form.

Ahead of him, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson are certainties in the full-back roles. Ibrahima Konate has been the regular centre-back partner for Virgil van Dijk in Europe.

However, we anticipate a change. Konate is prone to positional errors which the Reds can ill-afford. Joel Matip is vastly experienced on the big stage and should come in for the Frenchman.

In midfield, Jurgen Klopp should go with his best combination. Fabinho is expected to be the holding midfielder with Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara just ahead of him.

Further forward, it should be a straightforward decision for Klopp. Luis Diaz has been superb since his mid-season arrival from Porto. He was key against Villarreal away from home.

He should start in his preferred left-wing position which would mean that Sadio Mane will lead the line. Mohamed Salah looks set to feature on the right wing for the Reds.

Predicted Liverpool line-up (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago; Salah, Mane, Diaz.
