Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-3) vs Manchester City, Kovacic starts

05 January 2023 - 19:12

Chelsea will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they entertain Manchester City tonight. The Blues are currently 10 points behind Manchester United for the fourth spot.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Formation: 3-4-3

    Predicted Line-up:

Kepa Arrizabalaga has started the Blues' two Premier League games after the break and has made several key saves. The Spaniard is expected to continue between the sticks.

In defence, manager Graham Potter could revert to a back three to deal with the Cityzens' attacking threat. We fancy Trevoh Chalobah to partner Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Cesar Azpilicueta was unconvincing in the recent stalemate against Nottingham Forest, but should feature at right wing-back in the injury absence of Reece James.

On the opposite end, Marc Cucurella is expected to start. In midfield, Denis Zakaria deserves to keep his place but Jorginho could make way for Mateo Kovacic after a frustrating display last weekend.

In attack, Christian Pulisic could make way due to the change in formation. No other changes are likely. Raheem Sterling has a goal contribution in both games after the World Cup while Kai Havertz and Mason Mount found the back of the net against Nottingham Forest.

Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-3): Arrizabalaga; Chalobah, Silva, Koulibaly; Azpilicueta, Zakaria, Kovacic, Cucurella; Mount, Havertz, Sterling.
