Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Newcastle, Ben White fit

16 May 2022 - 16:48

Arsenal take on Newcastle United at St James' Park tonight. The game is a must-win for them to reclaim their fourth spot in the Premier League standings.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Formation: 4-2-3-1

    Predicted Line-up:

Aaron Ramsdale has played every minute in the Premier League since September last year, barring one game. He is expected to start in goal over Bernd Leno again.

Cedric Soares is set to start at right-back, but there could be a change on the opposite end. With the suspension of Rob Holding and doubts over Gabriel Magalhaes' fitness, Takehiro Tomiyasu could partner Ben White in central defence. White has been deemed after a hamstring injury. In this case, Nuno Tavares should reclaim his left-back position.

No changes are expected in the centre of the park. Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka have been the midfield pairing for the last four league games that have constituted three wins.

Further forward, Emile Smith Rowe could replace Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has generally rotated between the duo for the wide position this term.

The rest of the attack should remain identical. Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard are likely to occupy the right wing and number 10 roles with Eddie Nketiah leading the line.

Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; Cedric, White, Tomiyasu, Tavares; Elneny, Xhaka; Saka, Odegaard, Smith Rowe; Nketiah.
