Pep Guardiola to clear out squad in massive summer overhaul

Guardiola to clear out at least twelve players from his City squad

Pep Guardiola will be clearing out his squad this summer, and up to a dozen players might be shown the exit door, according to the Daily Mail.

The players who will be shown the exit door include Jesus Navas, Willy Caballero, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Yaya Toure, who are out of contract. While Joe Hart, Eliaquim Mangala, Wilfried Bony, Samir Nasri and Jason Denayer do not seem to have a future at the club under Guardiola.

The two most notable departures will be veteran defender Pablo Zabaleta and surprisingly young forward Kelechi Iheanacho.

Pablo Zabaleta will be leaving after spending nine years at the club. The Manchester City fans gave him a standing ovation when he appeared as a late substitute in Saturday's 2-1 win against Leicester City.

City said on their official website: 'Pablo is out of contract in the summer and has informed the club he will move to pastures new. He leaves behind many happy memories. With 332 appearances made since his bargain £6.5million move from Espanyol, Zaba joined City the day before it was announced Sheikh Mansour was the club's new owner. Only Joe Hart and Vincent Kompany have been with the Blues longer."The 32 year old defender is touted to sign for West Ham United.

Iheanacho on the other hand, might come as a surprise to City fans, given his huge potential and his effective performances for his young age. He has scored 7 goals this campaign, in a season where he has had limited time on the pitch especially after the arrival of Gabriel Jesus.

Borussia Dortmund has emerged as early favorites for the young Nigerian forward, which could be a perfect move, given Dortmund's history in developing young players and giving them the opportunity to play.
