14:30 TEAM NEWS
Bolton only make one change from the team that beat Reading, El hadj Diouf returns to replace Helguson.
Sylvain Distin is injured but Portsmouth have Papa Boupa Diop back from the AFCON. And Milan Baros and Defoe start upfront after the departure of Benjani.
Darren Bent and Robbie Keane start for Tottenham while Berbatov starts on the bench. It is Derby they are facing
14:28 Laursen launches a ball up field and Harewood outmuscles Cacapa and as the ball drops rifles it into the side netting. Unlucky Harewood but great play and strength. He deserves a goal after this performance
14:25 Barry loops a corner to Laursen who heads a dangerous ball back into the box and Harper just manages to get there before Carew
14:22 Reo Coker is not happy as Newcastle win a free kick and confronts Butt. He is given a yellow card, there was no need for that at this stage in the game. Foolish from Reo Coker.
14:20 That third goal has probably wrapped it up for Villa, it baffles me why Viduka is not on the pitch, but hey I am not the manager.
14:19 SUBSTITUTION Emre - Barton
14:18 GOAL Aston Villa 3 - 1 Newcastle
Harewood's strength and determination helps Aston Villa win a corner after Carson cleared the ball. The resulting conrner comes out to Gardner who rifles a volley heading to the corner which Harper makes a good save to push it out for a corner. And again the ball comes out to Gardener who hammers the ball in and Harper makes a great save. Another corner then comes in this time Carew headers in. Third time lucky as they say and third goal. Poor defending it has to be said.
14:11 Milner does well down the left to win a corner which he in turn takes, but after a scrappy few ball back in the ball is cleared.
14:09 Harewood causes problems in the Newcastle box using his strength o weave away from Taylor and then take a snap shot from a tight angle but Harper saves and holds.

13:54 GOAL Aston Villa 2-1 Newcastle.

Gardner - Mellberg
13:33 Newcastle clear and the whistle blows to bring the first half to a close and there are some boos ringing around Villa Park, I wasn't expecting that
13:32 One minute of stoppage time in the first half remains
13:30 Great free kick from Young finds Carew open who headers it towards goal but Given manages to palm it away. Good chance for an equaliser
13:28 good passage of play from Newcastle as Milner works it around well but oey Barton's poor pass breaks up the play and it goes out for a Goal kick
13:26 Free kick in a dangerous position for Ashley Young and he whips it in but Given scrambles it away.
13:21 Good chance for Mellberg as a good looking ball reaches him in the box, but it bounces awkwardly and he can only hit the defender and it deflects for a corner.
13:16 Good move from Newcastle down the left but Carr tries a neat back flick to Alan Smith but the pass is poor and it goes out for a goal kick.
13:04: Villa have a penalty shout for two incidences at the same time turned down. Barton pushes Maloney on the floor as Villa are about to take a free kick and then Barry's free kick clearly hits Joey Barton on the hand. In my opinion that should have been a pen, well at least one of them anyway, but almost immediately Barton nearly gets a second for Newcastle as he shoots from outside the box, but Carson saves it.
12:59 looks like this could be a very close with not much separating the two teams except the goal (of course). Both teams look likely to score when they have the ball.
12:50: GOAL Villa 0-1 Newcastle
Owen scores his second in two games. A great ball in from Milner provides Owen with a header which he buries into the back of the net.
12:45 The teams are underway at Villa Park
