Arsenal lineup 4-2-3-1 vs Bayern Munich - Predicted

Ozil will be in the spotlight at the Allianz Arena

Premier League side Arsenal will seek to earn a positive result when they take on German champions Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16, first-leg later tonight.

The Gunners were thumped by a 5-1 scoreline at the Allianz Arena last term, and they will have to come up with a much better performance in order to keep the tie alive for the return leg at home.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Arsene Wenger has literally stuck with his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation over the years. No changes are expected, though, the side could participate with a defensive mindset.

Lineup:

Colombia international David Ospina has already been confirmed as a definite starter. The 28-year-old was key to the Gunners finishing first in their group, and Wenger will reward him with an extended run in Europe.

Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi will as ever start in the heart of the defence with Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal set to occupy the full-back positions.

Granit Xhaka is available for the Gunners in Europe following a lengthy break due to his domestic ban. He will most probably earn his return to the lineup alongside Wenger's favourite Francis Coquelin.

Moving forward, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could get the call for the right-wing and left-wing positions. The Ox has impressed in the central midfield department in recent games, and this could earn him an advanced role ahead of Alex Iwobi.

There have been plenty of calls for Mesut Ozil to be dropped, but it is just not going to happen. The World Cup winner will take up his familiar number 10 role with Alexis Sanchez set to lead the line for the Gunners.

Olivier Giroud has been pretty good off the bench this term, and he and Danny Welbeck could be called upon, should the Gunners require more firepower upfront.
